MAKE A CONTRIBUTION

Help Us Make The Miracles Happen

Your Tax Deductible Contribution Will Help Spread Hope Through Psychosocial Support

Why your contribution matters
  • Childhood cancer is the #1 killer of children by disease, more than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and pediatric AIDS combined (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2012; National Cancer Institute, 2012).

  • One out of every 330 children under the age of 20 will develop cancer (American Society of Clinical Oncology, 2012; Cancer.Net).

  • Each year, over 15,700 children are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. (CureSearch, 2014; Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Cancer Statistics Review/National Cancer Institute, 2012).

  • Approximately 1545 children with cancer die each year, that is almost 4 children a day (American Cancer Society, 2007).

  • Only 4% of the 2009 National Cancer Institute's $5.6 billion cancer research budget went to childhood cancer (American Childhood Cancer Organization).

  • As a result of treatment, 59% of children have a diagnosable mental health issue (DeMaso & Shaw, 2010).
What your contribution does
  • We fund psychosocial support services to directly assist children with cancer and their families.

  • We fund psychosocial clinicians and researchers committed to developing and implementing psychosocial Standards of Care for children with cancer and their families.

  • We raise community awareness around our psychosocial mission and recognize the supportive care needs of cancer survivors and caregivers in our community.

  • We advocate for the psychosocial needs of children with cancer and their families in the American Congress, and have successfully lobbied for new language to account for this impact on cancer treatment.
