VICTORIA SARDI-BROWN, Ph.D.

Co-Founder and President, Mattie's Mom

 

Dr. Sardi obtained her Ph.D. in mental health counseling from The George Washington University, and for nine years served as an Associate Professorial Lecturer for Counseling and Human Services at the University. She has over 20 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over fourteen years of clinical experience in personal and career counseling within the federal government and University settings. She has extensive experience presenting at local and national conferences and has published numerous professional association newsletter articles, peer-review articles, and textbook chapters.

 

In 2009, Dr. Sardi became the co-founder and President of the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation. The only national non-profit dedicated to psychosocial awareness, advocacy, support, and research for childhood cancer. To date, this Foundation has raised over $1m for childhood cancer and has supported over 35,000 children and families with cancer.

 

Dr. Sardi-Brown was appointed and served as the Co-Chair of the American Counseling Association Public Policy and Legislation Committee, is a Past President of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and was appointed by Mayor Anthony Williams as the Chair of the DC Board of Professional Counseling, which is responsible for granting professional licenses and presiding over ethical hearings of all Licensed Professional Counselors and Addiction Counselors in the District of Columbia.
